Housing
Price comparisons
While housing prices have risen significantly over
the past ten years, they still remain lower than in a number of
other large cities on the West Coast. For example, median single-family
home prices in Seattle were $159,000 in Seattle and $254,000 in
San Francisco in 1995, compared to about $142,000 and $135,000
in Beaverton/Aloha and Hillsboro/Forest Grove, respectively, in
the same year. In 1998, median prices for single-family homes
in King and Snohomish County in the Seattle area were $219,500
and $179,453, respectively, compared to $172,500 and $164,300
in the Beaverton/Aloha and Hillsboro/Forest Grove areas. Current
prices in the San Francisco Bay Area range from a low of $141,600
in Solano County to $486,400 in San Mateo County.
